Button Machine
A downloadable game for Windows
A VJ-ing (visual disc jockey) tool developed in one day as a prototype for exercising the concept of building the toy first within a game.
Building the toy first is about developing a game from ground-up. It revolves around finding the fun/playfulness in the beginning by rapidly experimenting and fooling around with the tools you build.
The Button Machine was quickly made with simple code, yet it has quite a handful of options to play with. After creating this, I feel like I have a better understanding of the strengths of developing from the ground-up. In the past I often worked with grand ideas that I planned out from A-Z before I actually created them. This caused me to often hit huge brick walls, since games tends to grow/shrink, shift and change during development. This little toy here taught me the art of staying open minded and flexible.
"Listen to what your game wants from you"
Hope you enjoy fooling with this toy too!

This made me laugh so hard, making multitudes of kókómjólk and then watching it undulate in the different animations buried me six feet under.
